Chinese manufacturer OnePlus has started pushing out a new OxygenOS Open Beta update (24/15) to its OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. The update in question brings along a handful of changes, prime among them being fix for the Blueborne vulnerability.
For those who aren't aware, the vulnerability allows a remote attacker to take control of devices via Bluetooth. What's scary is that the process does not even require the device being attacked to be paired to the attacker’s device, or even to be set on discoverable mode.
BlueBorne affects mobile, desktop, as well as IoT operating systems, including Android, iOS, Windows, and Linux.
Coming back to the update, OnePlus says they have fixed the vulnerability independent of the Android security patch. "Therefore, some blueborne vulnerability scanners may not recognize our independent patch."
As for other changes, the update includes "Soft" screen calibration and new boot animation. It also optimizes the clearing of recent apps, and fixes some minor bugs.
